#NYR Injury Update: Chris Kreider will be sidelined indefinitely following surgery on his hand today
— New York Rangers (@NYRangers) March 28, 2014
UPDATED 7:04 pm: The Rangers confirm Kreider is out for tomorrow’s game vs. Flyers, do not release any more info: – Not looking good for Chris Kreider… UPDATE 7:00 pm: Curiously, the original tweet by Bob McKenzie was deleted, however, the story TSN ran is still up on the site. Rick Carpinello of Rangers Report […]
How many different times this year have we heard Rangers GM Glen Sather was retiring after the season? After his prostate cancer surgery back in March of 2013, many speculated that Sather’s time as President and GM was drawing to an end. In June, an ESPN Boston report had Sather considering stepping down over the […]
I know it’s not Rangers related, but this may be goal of the year worthy and deserves everyone’s time.
If we want to spin it NYR-centric, Glen Sather did have conversations with Edmonton at the trade deadline about acquiring Hemsky. Don’t forget: it’s not a hockey year if a Hemsky for Del Zotto trade isn’t rumored.
Here’s a thought: Ottawa paid a 2015 3rd-round draft pick and a 2014 5th-rounder to get Hemsky. Would you have given Edmonton that to bring Alex Hemsky to NYR? Comment below!
Quick! Think of one of the more polarizing Rangers’ players of the past few seasons? It’s a safe bet the name Michael Del Zotto comes up. Billed with promise, MDZ never quite panned out after his impressive ’09-10 rookie season and 41-point campaign back in ’11-12. The Rangers finally cut bait with the young defenseman in […]
Earlier this week, HOFer and former Ranger Phil Esposito was a guest on a sports talk show in the greater Toronto area and proceeded to go an epically uncensored rant about the trade rumors surrounding Martin St. Louis and Ryan Callahan. http://youtube.com/watch?v=h0M72w22YHs After the jump, the main highlights… On the rumor floating around: "It's the […]
After yesterday's 5-2 win over the Czech Republic to advance to the Semifinal in Sochi, Team USA forward and St. Louis Blues captain David Backes had a solid, solid quote. He and his line of Ryan Callahan and Dustin Brown have arguably become USA's best line through the tournament. Why? Backes believes it has to […]
Early this morning, Henrik Lundqvist and the Swedes defeated the Swiss 1-0 to improve to 2-0 as the Sochi Games continue to march on. Our Rangers netminder made 26 saves, but perhaps none as exciting—or as typical—as this one below (h/t Next Impulse Sports): The Lundqvist Header denies all. If you'd like to see some […]
NHL Commish Gary Bettman must feel on top of the world right now. His sport has looked grander than grand the last week with the huge success of the Stadium Series (which I’ll have some thoughts on later). All three games thus far have been a spectacle to behold, and the 150K+ patrons who witnessed […]
Everyone in NYR Nation must be feeling pretty good this morning. The Blueshirts took down the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks last night, 3-2, in their building. Was it the team's most complete win of the season? Not by a long shot, considering the dreadful middle period played. But it was arguably the team's […]
Early this morning, any hopes of the U.S. repeating a gold medal at the 2014 World Junior Championship were dashed when Russia completed a 5-3 win in the quarterfinals. Rangers prospect Pavel Buchnevich (who had a strong game, scoring two goals and adding an assist) finished the Americans off with an empty netter, then proceeded […]
Wednesday was a historic and memorable day for a host of reasons. Henrik Lundqvist received the long-term extension he desired, the Rangers locked up their franchise goalie for what should be the rest of his sterling career and a bevy of Rangers fans breathed a sigh of relief knowing finally that this offseason we wouldn't […]
Everyone's favorite owner James Dolan recently gave an exclusive interview to the NY Post's Mike Vaccaro. While it mostly involved talking about Dolan the band mate, the status of Isaiah Thomas and the Knicks, the mercurial man did touch upon his other team, the New York Rangers, for a brief moment. MV: Let’s talk about […]
Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Less than two years removed from his second 40-goal season in New York, Marian Gaborik now resides with the Columbus Blue Jackets, is mired in a seven-game goal less drought and the organization may look to move on from him at the Trade Deadline or perhaps even sooner. Oof. […]
The last time these two teams met on October 19, it was the New Jersey Devils who blanked the New York Rangers 4-0 in a game that was barely a contest. This time around, the effort was better but the end result didn't change as New Jersey edged New York on a late goal by Dainius […]
