One of the biggest regrets I’ve had in my six plus years of administering this blog was not getting Sean Avery voted into the All Star Game back in 2011.
While it was an amazing accomplishment that the “Vote for Avery” campaign was able to get him the 15th most votes for a forward ahead of players such as Henrik Zetterberg, Martin St. Louis, Rick Nash, the Sedin twins, Joe Thornton and Phil Kessel, it still bothers me to this day we failed in our mission.
Fortunately, Avery’s participation in this season’s “Dancing With the Stars” is giving us a second chance.
Yes Rangers fans, today officially begins the “Vote for Avery Campaign, Part II.”
Last night was the season premiere of ABC’s “celebrity” dance off and based on Avery’s performance and the judge’s voting we may have our work cut out for us…
…not exactly Kevin Bacon in Foot Loose.
…was definitely hoping he’d have better moves after spending so many years ensconced in the Manhattan night life. He almost looked robotic out there. Maybe he needs to start trash takin’ the judges to loosen himself up.
As I said, we’re faced with a daunting task right off the bat as Avery and his partner Karina Smirnoff put up the second worst score of the night with a 20 out of 30.
Luckily for the duo, elimination is decided by fan voting, not the judges.
We’ll find out the results next week. So get out there and vote for Avery right now!
