Lundqvist In Tonight; Talbot to Start This Weekend

Henrik Lundqvist was the first goaltender off the ice at practice this morning meaning he'll get his sixth straight start tonight against the Red Wings. Cam Talbot has not started a game since a 7-1 win in Toronto on January 4th.

However, Alain Vigneault indicated to the press on Tuesday that Cam Talbot will likely start one of the back-to-backs this coming weekend in Ottawa on Saturday or home to the Capitals on Sunday…

“We’re in a stretch now where we’re playing a lot of games in a short time,” Vigneault said, “and we have back-to-back coming up here, so if I were a betting man, I would say there’s a chance Cam would play in one of those two.”

…you'd have to think Talbot gets the game in Ottawa, if for no other reason than to make sure Hank plays in front of the home fans at MSG. Got to make sure the seats are filled so that the Dolan family can continue to line their pockets.

…Talbot has started 12 of the Rangers 48 games this season. I'd love to see him get 10-12 more starts this season, which would put Lundqvist at around 57 going into the playoffs (or the offseason). In 2011-12, Lundqvist played in 62 regular season games before leading the Rangers to an Eastern Conference Finals run. So, with the Olympics this season, I think 55-57 games would be the perfect amount.

Speaking of Talbot, everyone is always asking where he got the inspiration for his Ghostbusters mask, welp, here you go…
