Update, 4:26 p.m.:
#NYR have agreed to terms with free agent goaltender David LeNeveu. He will wear #29.
— New York Rangers (@NYRangers) January 21, 2014
LeNeveu was signed by the Wolfpack last week and is 1-1-0 with a 3.50 gaa and .891 sv % in two games.
…let's just say I'm devastated that I wasn't chosen and leave it at that.
Some news out of practice this morning as Cam Talbot will get the surprise start against the Islanders tonight with Henrik Lundqvist reportedly too sick to play or backup.
The Rangers have yet to secure a backup as the timing and weather have made it difficult to get someone here from Hartford.
…so I guess illness is the new word for back muscle pull.
…since I mention it all the time on this blog, you guys already know that I played goalie in high school, so I have officially made my availability known to the Rangers. Assuming the Rangers will be interested if for no other reason than it'll give Stepan a chance to thank me personally for jump starting his season.
I did hear that a pretty good netminder was in Bryant Park today promoting the Stadium Series. Might not be a bad option (via Rangers Twitter)…
…actually, an awesome scenario would it be if Vigneault pulled a Lester Patrick if the situation arises.
In all seriousness, the Rangers have the option to sign someone to a one-day PTO in these circumstances. In the past, team's in a similar bind have signed local college goaltender coaches.
