New York Rangers vs Montreal Canadiens Game 3 Eastern Conference Playoffs

Stepan With Team in Montreal, Doubtful for Game 5; Miller Still in New York With Shoulder Injury; Fast, Lindberg On Trip

Derek Stepan (broken jaw) accompanied his Rangers teammates to Montreal for tomorrow’s Game 5, however, Alain Vigneault said his center iceman is doubtful.

In other injury news, JT Miller stayed in New York because of the shoulder injury sustained in Game 4. Jesper Fast and Oscar Lindberg made the trip and are candidates for the vacant forward position.

Dan Carcillo is also on the trip, but can’t play while the appeal of his 10-game suspension is pending.

…wonder if the Canadiens still think Stepan’s jaw injury is “fishy”?

…i definitely haven’t been overly impressed by Fast when given an opportunity this season and postseason, but I don’t think it’s smart for Lindberg’s first NHL game to be Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals in Montreal. Might be a tad overwhelming.

…obviously, the Rangers want to end this series tomorrow night, but the Stepan injury makes it even more imperative to dismiss the Canadiens as soon as possible to allow the University of Wisconsin product ample time to heal before the Stanley Cup Finals, which might not start till next week.
