Staal Remains Out With Back Spasms

According to the Rangers, Marc Staal missed his third straight day due to back spasms.

…most of the reports the last few days have stated it's nothing serious, so I won't get too concerned unless he still missing practice by mid week.

In other injury news, Derek Dorsett practiced in a contact jersey for the first time since breaking his leg on January 3rd.

Alain Vigneault said after practice that he'll speak with Dorsett tomorrow to see if he's healthy enough to play Thursday night against the Blackhawks.

…as Vigneault stated the other day, Dorsett is going to replace the injured Zuccarello in the lineup initially, but if he's not available to go I assume JT Miller is at the ready. Although, that could all go out the window depending on what happens with Callahan.

Finally, Vigneault noted that he won't make a decision on his goaltender for Thursday night until he speaks with Henrik Lundqvist tomorrow.

Vigneault says his hesitancy to start Lundqvist has more to do with the travel than his Olympic workload.

…tough decision. It's probably smart to give Lundqvist a few days off to get himself acclimated to the time change and getting back into his routine. Having said that, the Rangers are in a dog fight to make the playoffs and the Blackhawks are obviously a damn good team. It's not that I don't have faith in Talbot, but he's not Lundqvist.
