Yesterday, the Rangers announced that they have re-signed former 2009 third round pick Ryan Bourque.
After combining for just 14g, 15a his first two injury plagued seasons in Hartford, Bourque tallied 21g, 16a in 74 games last season.
No terms were released.
…Bourque is definitely overlooked when it comes to fourth line options for the Rangers this season. While small in frame (5-9, 178lbs), Bourque is a very smart player who is tenacious on the power play and in the defensive end. Last season, he also proved to have some offensive ability, plus he’s very versatile as he can play center or wing.
…with current fourth line options, other than Dominic Moore, being Tanner Glass, Matthew Lombardi, Oscar Lindberg and Jesper Fast, I think Bourque will have his first real opportunity to make the Rangers this training camp.
…even if he doesn’t, it’s likely he’ll be one of the first injury call-ups this season.
