An ugly trend has begun to creep into the Rangers game as they’ve lost two of their last three games in the series. Undisciplined penalties.
Not only have the Rangers given the Canadiens 12 power plays the last two games, seven of the eight penalties the Rangers were called for in Game 4 were in the offensive zone.
And let’s not forget Chris Kreider’s bone-headed penalty just 22 seconds into Game 5 that forced the Rangers to play catch-up all night…
Thankfully, the Canadiens haven’t taken full advantage of the Rangers losing their composure as they’ve only scored on two of those 12 power plays.
Having said that, if the Rangers want to close out the series tonight and punch their ticket to the Stanley Cup Finals, the need to stay out of the box. They must get back to playing whistle-to-whistle which was so effective in Flyers series.
There’s only so long they can keep PK Subban off the board with that rifle of a shot from the point on the power play.
If you play with fire long enough, eventually you’re going to get burned.
