Rangers 7, Maple Leafs 1

Moore scores twice as Rangers beat Maple Leafs 7-1

The New York Rangers (21-20-2) defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs (21-17-5) by the score of 7-1, tonight. For a box score, go to Yahoo! Sports.

…don't look now, but the Rangers are actually on a little bit of a roll here. Despite all the warts, the Blueshirts have somehow found a way to win five of their last seven and now have some much needed snarl on the way with Carcillo. Time for a run?

…man, I would have paid to see Kreider skate past Phaneuf on the bench after his goal and give him the Buchnevich treatment. More impressive than the goal was his willingness to throw down with Phaneuf later in the game. When you play with an edge, eventually you're going to have to drop the gloves. Kid was a beast tonight.

…i'm really not trying to cry goalie controversy but AV has to ride Talbot right now, right?

…you think you can contain Dominic Moore? Fuhgeddabootit.

…wonder if Carcillo will try to take Gaborik's old locker while Girardi just stands there and watches.

…Pouliot continues to go hard to the net and he continues to score. Hope Nash is taking notes.

…speaking of Nash, 15 Rangers players with points tonight. He was not one of them.

…good for Boyle to get one tonight. I still contend he's having a very under-rated season.

…i've seen a number of Toronto defensemen's names attached to Del Zotto rumors. After watching them play tonight, I think I'd rather keep Del Zotto.

…assuming the numbers game is going to go Miller's way from now on.

…i guess Staal's vision is ok. Which might not be a good thing considering how much he's struggled defensively this season.

…a lot of us on the blog put a ton emphasis on the Rangers playing with toughness. Unfortunately, some misconstrue it as solely meaning fighting. While fisticuffs are part of the equation, tonight's effort included the TEAM toughness that is needed on a nightly basis for the Blueshirts to continue to be successful. Tough forecheck, winning puck battles and hitting. It's not enough for one individual player to play with grit and sandpaper. The entire team must have that mentality.

…having said that, when the team comes out flat, which the Rangers have done way too often this season, that's when a guy like Carcillo can prove his worth by sparking the team with a big hit, fight or agitating the opponent.

…secondary players continue to carry Rangers. Team might be dangerous if top players ever start producing.

…off tomorrow then Columbus in town Monday night. Let's hope the Rangers saved some goals.
