Rangers 3, Flyers 1

The New York Rangers (41-29-4) defeated the Philadelphia Flyers (38-26-7) by the score of 3-1, tonight. For a box score, go to Yahoo! Sports.

…ten days ago, the Rangers season was on the brink after the heart breaking 1-0 loss to the Sharks. A make or break week stared them in the face with games against fellow playoff contending teams. Not only have the Blueshirts stood up to the challenge, they are quickly asserting themselves as a legit Stanley Cup contender.

…i have been very reluctant to make this comparison on the blog but McDonagh is quickly approaching Leetch-like status around here.

…the next time I want Carcillo to start over Dorsett, someone please show me video of this game. The former Blue Jacket was all over the ice tonight.

…along with Dorsett, the fourth line was again the Rangers best line tonight. I’m trying to figure out if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

…i don’t want to take anything away from the Rangers, but I was shocked at how sluggish the Flyers looked tonight. I expected them to come out like a pack of crazed dogs. Instead, after Lundqvist shut them down early, they really didn’t have much fight at all. Thought for sure they’d be looking to dominate the Rangers physically.

…his contributions won’t show up on the stat sheet but Miller made two hard working plays to help setup both the McDonagh and Moore goals.

…i’d say it’s time to put St. Louis on the fourth line, but I don’t want him to stunt their scoring prowess.

…remember earlier in the season when we all wondered if Girardi could ever play in AV’s system? Good times.

…post Olympic hangover seems to officially be gone for the Rangers defense as they did an outstanding job keeping the Flyers along the perimeter as well as standing them up at the blueline.

…Diaz has to be giving AV something to think about once Moore is healthy, especially with his work on the power play.

…were Stepan and Nash both out with broken hands also?

…speaking of the power play, maybe it’s time to give Boyle, Moore and Dorsett a shot.

…first game of six-day Western swing begins Friday night in Calgary.
