Montreal Canadiens v New York Rangers - Game Four

Rangers 3, Canadiens 2, OT

The New York Rangers defeated the Montreal Canadiens by the score of 3-2 in overtime in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals, tonight. The Rangers lead the series 3-1. For a box score, go to Yahoo! Sports.

…i’m not sure I’ve ever wanted a game as bad as I did last night. Between the trash talking and the arrogance coming from the Canadiens camp all week it was enough to turn even the most laissez-faire Rangers fan into an absolute die hard. And that was before the game started.

…i’m not the biggest conspiracy theorist in the world, but anyone who doesn’t think Bettman is trying to get this series to seven games should be fitted for a straight jacket. Eight power plays to three, including this phantom high stick from Boyle in which Plekanec should get an Oscar. Remember when the Rangers were getting all those embellishment penalties against the Penguins? I guess the refs don’t call those anymore…

…but at least the refs were calling it both ways. Or not…

…with the huge discrepancy of power play chances in his favor at least we didn’t have to witness Therrien complaining to refs again…

…we all talk about how the death of St. Louis’ mother has helped elevate his game, but do you know what, he was a damn good hockey player before his mom passed away and that goal had nothing to do with emotion and everything to do with his skill level…

…the great player separates himself from the pack by being clutch on the big stage and that’s exactly what Brassard has done as a Blueshirt in the postseason. Anyone else scream “what are you doing?” when Brassard was winding up, followed by a “nevermind.”

…when players go down with injuries, you look for someone to step-up and that person has been Carl Hagelin, who has taken his game to another level with the injuries to Brassard and Stepan.

…i’d rather be lucky than good, right PK? Nah, Lundqvist’s just good…

…i didn’t think the Rangers could be better on the penalty kill without Ryan Callahan. In case you haven’t noticed, they are. The Blueshirts have killed 35 of their last 37 short-handed opportunities against the Penguins and Canadiens. Now that’s impressive.

…without Prust in the lineup, Dorsett knew he could run Montreal players without worry of retribution. Might have been his best game of the playoffs.

…yeah, I could pretty much watch this celly all day…

…i can’t believe I’m saying this but the Price injury actually worked out better for Montreal than the Rangers as Tokarski has played as good if not better than Price would have.

…how important is Stepan? Nash & Kreider combined for TWO shots on goal last night.

…another game, another undisciplined penalty by Pouliot.

…i can’t believe I’m about to say this, but one more win from the Stanley Cup Finals!!!!! Rangers fans are probably just as confident as Penguins fans were up 3-1 last series….

Post game talk…
