Katie Strang at ESPN.com reports that John Moore’s hearing with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety for his dangerous hit on Dale Weise last night will be at 2:30 p.m.
Strang also notes that the league is reviewing Derek Dorsett’s head-butt on Mike Weaver last night.
…as I said last night, due to Moore’s lack of history along with Weise not being injured the suspension should be no longer than one game. Having said that, Prust’s suspension was based on how late the hit was (interference), not whether it was a head shot. In Moore’s case, the hearing is based solely on the NHL’s illegal check to the head rule, which may result in a longer suspension.
…as far as Dorsett goes, he should be suspended for stupidity.
Meanwhile, the NHL is also looking at the Rene Bourque cross check on Dorsett at the end of the game that was given major game misconduct penalty…
…assuming this is only being reviewed because Bourque was given a game misconduct. Despite being vicious, the check check doesn’t make contact with Dorsett’s head, so Bourque, while a douche, won’t be suspended.
And of course, nothing is likely to happen to Lars Eller, whose hit from behind on Zuccarello was probably the most dangerous of the four incidents…
