Rangers have traded winger Derek Dorsett to Vancouver for a third-round pick

The Rangers now have the 85th and 89th picks in the 3rd round tomorrow.
Dorsett was going into the final year of his contract that paid him $1.633M per.
…looks like a salary cap dump to me. Assuming this means Carcillo will be back on the cheap. #carcilloeffect
…Dorsett was a hard working guy who had great chemistry on the fourth line with Moore and Boyle, but he proved he couldn’t handle the heavyweights in the league and very rarely deterred opponents from taking liberties with the Rangers skilled players. Despite that, he was one of the few guys who could be counted on to stand up for a teammate and will be missed, but hey, we’ll always have this moment between him and Okposo…
…wonder if this was done to add a couple of dollars to offers being made to Stralman, Pouliot and Boyle or if they have their eyes on a bigger prize.
Other Canucks moves today include Ryan Kelser being traded to Anaheim for Nick Bonino and defenseman Luca Sbisa, as well as the 24th overall pick in this year’s draft; and Jason Garrison being sent to Tampa Bay for a 50th overall pick in this year’s draft.
