There's been a lot of speculation about who will take Mats Zuccarello's (broken hand) spot in the lineup for the next two weeks. The two most obvious are Derek Dorsett and JT Miller.
Alain Vigneault gave us some insight into his thinking after practice yesterday (via New York Post)…
“If there’s a chance [Dorsett] can play, than we have 12 healthy forwards, so we’ll probably stay that way.”
…welp, there you go folks. If Dorsett is healthy he fills in for Zuccarello and Miller likely stays put in Hartford. Can't say I agree as Dorsett does nothing to fill the offensive void left by the Hobbit's injury.
…this is going to put a lot of pressure on Nash to once and for all step up his game and become the guy the Rangers traded two very solid players for. Although, maybe the player the Rangers are getting in return for Callahan allows them the benefit of going with more bite in the lineup with Dorsett.
Meanwhile, Marc Staal sat out the second straight practice with back spasms. Vigneault continues to note it's nothing serious.
