Dorsett Likely to Fill In If St. Louis Doesn’t Play

Based on this morning’s optional skate in Pittsburgh, it looks like Derek Dorsett will fill in for Martin St. Louis, who is expected to miss tonight’s game due to the sudden loss of his mother yesterday.

St. Louis is currently with family in Montreal.

Also on the ice this morning with the rest of the likely healthy scratches was Raphael Diaz, so expect John Moore to be re-inserted into the line-up.

Here’s what the lines looked like at yesterday’s practice before St. Louis was notified of the death of his mother…

Pouliot-Brassard-St. Louis
Boyle-D. Moore-Dorsett/Miller

Carl Hagelin took a maintenance day yesterday, but will be in the line-up tonight.

…i’m not counting on St. Louis being back tonight, so someone needs to take his spot on that second line. And the person I’d love to see there is Nash. Despite having some nice chemistry with his former Blue Jacket teammate Brassard last season, the two have barely been paired at all this season. Obviously a lot of that has to do with Brassard’s success with Poopsalot (aka Captain Taco) and Zucc, but I think the Rangers center could get Nash jump started with his deft passing ability.

…as far as AV’s choices of Dorsett over Miller and Moore over Diaz, I really don’t think a decision either way wins or loses the Rangers the game tonight. The top players are going to dictate whether or not there’s a Game 6. Period.
