Derrick Brassard was able to practice in full this afternoon for the first time since sustaining an upper body injury in Game 1 Saturday afternoon.
Brassard, who wouldn’t confirm he’ll be back in the lineup tomorrow night, did say this after practice (via Blueshirts United)…
“I feel better. I went through the whole practice today so that’s a pretty good sign. I have come a long way from a couple of days ago so we’ll see tomorrow.”
Alain Vigneault repeated after practice that Brassard is still day-to-day.
…i know we’re all jonesing for another game tonight, but the extra day was hugely beneficial to Brassard’s recovery. I’d be shocked if he’s not back in there for Game 3.
…if Brassard does return, you have to assume Carcillo is headed back to the press box…or maybe not.
Beniot Pouliot did not participate in today’s practice as he was given a maintenance day according to Vigneault. However, the head coach did express zero concern over Pouliot’s availability for Game 3.
…jeez, I’ve heard about a guy getting benched during a game for taking bad penalties, but sending a message by making the guy a healthy scratch for practice? Wow, AV must be pissed about Pouliot’s undisciplined play.
…in all seriousness, despite Pouliot’s penchant for taking bad penalties, he’s been too important to the success of not only his line, but the entire team, to even suggest putting him in the press box for Game 3. You all know I love me some Car Bomb, but there’s really not even a decision for AV to make here.
Finally, the Canadiens announced that Dustin Tokarski will start Game 3.
…while Tokarski was far from being the reason the Canadiens lost Game 2, he definitely wasn’t the difference maker Therrien had hoped when he bypassed Budaj for the youngster.
…i don’t know why, but anytime I hear this kid’s name I can’t help but think of the John Belushi character in Animal House…
