As if things weren’t going bad enough for the Canadiens, now it looks like the center of the Rangers most consistent line this postseason will make his return from an upper body injury in Game 3.
When asked about Derrick Brassard’s status for tomorrow night, Alain Vigneault reiterated that he’s still “day-to-day” but did add this (via Bergen Record)…
“But if I was a betting man…”
While Vigneault never finished his sentence, I think we all know what he was insinuating.
Brassard, who had lower back issues before the postseason began, seemed to re-injure the back or tweak his shoulder after being hit by Mike Weaver in Game 1.
…i can’t be more complimentary of how Dominic Moore filled in flawlessly for Brassard. The team didn’t miss a beat and was probably better defensively with the Rangers clinging to a two-goal third period lead.
…having said that, the Rangers are a far superior offensive team with Brassard pivoting Pouliot & Zuccarello as proved by the duo being shutout on the scoreboard for one of the few times this postseason in Game 2. At this time of year, you obviously need your best players in the lineup and thankfully it looks like the Rangers are going to get a major piece back tomorrow night.
