Blues 2, Rangers 1

Blues top Rangers with 3rd-period power-play goal

The New York Rangers (27-23-3) lost to the St. Louis Blues (34-11-5) by the score of 2-1, tonight. For a box score, go to Yahoo! Sports.

…i really want to give St. Louis credit tonight. I really do. They gave the Rangers no room in the offensive end and clogged up the neutral zone. You could tell that Hitchcock had his team dedicated defensively after giving up seven goals to the Devils Tuesday night. But I'm sorry, except for the final 10 minutes of the second period the Rangers battle level was not even close to where it needed to be to defeat a team of the caliber of the Blues.

…having said that, the game was still tied in the third period and if the Rangers could have taken advantage of their power play opportunities and Halak's horrific rebound control they probably could have won. So please, if you're going to start panicking about this team again, it can't be after this game.

…damn Rick Nash, where you been hiding that bomb of a shot?

…i told you last game to keep an eye on the Rangers players possibly deferring to a dominate Nash to their detriment. Well, over the last three games, Nash has five of the Rangers eight goals and the team is 1-2-0. Noticed on a few occasions tonight Kreider and Stepan forcing him the puck.

…Klein was very steady and dependable in his Rangers debut. And from everything I've read on him, we better get used to it.

…while the Rangers have found themselves on the wrong end of every goal off a skate review this season, I feel Toronto has gotten all of them correct. Redirection, not distinct kicking motion on Steen tally tonight.

…with Klein on his right side, Moore seemed much more confident offensively tonight.

…can you say "Curse of the Del Zotto?"

…tonight, my friend suggested I dig into my bag of tricks and write a post on stripping Callahan of the "C" to get him jump started. Could you imagine the riot that would cause on Reddit?

…not sure about you guys, but I'm looking forward to rooting for Backes, Oshie and Shattenkirk to bring home the gold for Team USA.

…"Carcillo Non-Effect."

…so are we bringing back "Poopsalot?"

…just when you think you can't respect Zuccarello anymore, he crushes the 6-3 Backes in the corner and then gives him this face immediately afterward (via Marty Biron Tumblr)…

…this is the second straight game I'm letting the Rangers off the hook for a loss. But God help me if they lose to the Devils Sunday at Yankee Stadium, I'll have the entire team traded by the end of my recap.
