Eliminating Re-Entry Waivers Could Aid Rangers

With the new CBA eliminating re-entry waivers, Larry Brooks at the NY Post says the Rangers could look to bring in European prospects Jesper Fast of HV 71 and Oscar Lindberg of Skelleftea for possible late-season NHL duty.

Another interesting person to throw in the mix is Mats Zuccarello, who is still considered Rangers property while playing for the Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL. Brooks adds that Zuccarello would be eligible to play for the Blueshirts this season, without clearing waivers, if he were to sign with the club following the end of his season in Europe.

…Zuccarello gave the Rangers a nice little spark at the end of the last season. Maybe they'll need him to do the same this year. Let's hope not.

…as far as Fast and Lindberg, I'd love to see them come over and get some much needed exposure to the North American game. Even if it's only in practice.
