Torts Prepared for Shortened Season

During a live chat at Blueshirts United yesterday, Jim Cerny addressed John Tortorella's readiness for a lockout shortened season…

"Torts has been prepared for months! I have seen him and spoken with him several times during work stoppage and trust me he had a plan in place for every season scenario you could have imagined. Torts is ready to go!"

…assuming Torts is still going to kill these guys with his conditioning tests, but I'm really interested in seeing how he approaches an abbreviated training camp. I'm also curious how he'll handle Lundqvist's workload this year. There's going to be plenty of weeks with four games, so utilizing Biron properly will be a huge key to the Rangers success.

…i also wonder if he'll have a short leash on someone like Kreider if he struggles early. Not really an opportunity to allow him to work through a slump. This season is going be more of a sprint instead of a marathon.

Brad Richards discusses his thoughts on Torts' camp this year (via New York Post)…

“Camp will be business as usual," Richards says. "I’m sure there will be no talk of the [lockout]. It will be the straight-forward approach we always have.

“We as players know what to expect from Torts,” Richards added. “We will be ready to sprint right away.”
