Torts Fired?!?!?!?!

Update, 3:07 p.m.:

If you missed Sather's conference call you can listen to replay at Rangers Report by clicking here.

Update, 2:55 p.m.:

…Sather has done a complete 180 with fans that last few years, but man, if the Rangers fall short again next season, he's got to be gone. Right?

Update, 2:27 p.m.:

Live audio of Sather conference call:

Update, 2:25 p.m.:
Sather says, no decisions on Sullivan yet.

…LOL!!!!!!! I don't think anyone really expects him to survive.

…so when is Sather finally on the chopping block? Assuming this coaching decision will go a long way in deciding that.

Update, 2:20 p.m.:

Sather also says he wants to have a new coach in place before the draft on June 30th.

Update, 1:54 p.m.:

Just a quick thought. You have to wonder how much Henrik Lundqvist's breakup day comments clinched this move. He said the team took "a step back" this season and "we'll see" about signing an extension. I guess his "we'll see" was whether Torts was around or not.

Update, 1:34 p.m.:

Renaud Lavoie at RDS reports that recently fired Canucks coach Alain Vigneault is a candidate to fill the position.

Glen Sather conference call at around 2:30pm on WFAN.

…great, so the Rangers are interested in the guy who got bounced in the first round the last two years with all the talent in the world on his team?

…got to assume Sullivan is a goner as well.

BTW, Sean Avery has officially chimed in….

…i will be updating post as additional information is available.

Original Post:

…WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am in complete shock. As I have mentioned numerous times, there is a lot to complain about when it comes to Torts, but this to me is a panic move. Unless, as Sean Avery told us, the players hated him and their lack of passion against the Bruins was the team sending a message that they've had enough.

…have to wonder if deal already worked out with Vigneault or Ruff.
