Steve Zipay at Newsday reports this line-up for tonight's third preseason game in Calgary:
Henrik Lundqvist is expected to play the entire game.
…now that Miller (hamstring) is back healthy, I'm a bit surprised to not see him in the line-up tonight. Assuming he gets his first preseason action tomorrow.
…i think this is a huge game for Hrivik, who seems to be behind guys like Lindberg, Fast and Kristo for a spot on the roster.
…and of course, my complete focus will be on Mashinter tonight.
Here's Alain Vigneault on how he plans on evaluating the young talent in the remaining four preseason games (via Blueshirts United)…
"Because of the fact we are going to play four games in five nights, all of those (younger) guys will get an opportunity to play, and I've been trying to put them in situations where they're going to be sucessful. Both Fast and Kristo, for example, are supposed to be offensive players, so I'm trying to put them on a line with some skill level and with a little power play time."
…while it's frustrating to start the season with Stepan holding out along with Cally & Hags still recovering from shoulder surgery, having these young guys succeeding in camp has me excited not only for this season, but for the future of the Rangers franchise.
I also feel that the relaxed atmosphere that AV has implemented along with the youthful enthusiasm has really helped this team bond as seen in this great pic that Lundqvist put on his Instagram page of the guys having a great time in Banff…
…the more pics I see being posted by the players in Banff, the more I think this trip will have the same positive effect the European voyage had on the 2011-12 team. Some great chemistry being generated out there.
