According to Bob McKenzie at TSN, Derek Stepan is looking for the same six year, $28.2 million deal that Ryan McDonagh received earlier this offseason, while the Rangers are holding firm on a two-year bridge deal.
Glen Sather recently exclaimed that the Rangers were not going to give Stepan a long term deal.
…please no offer sheet, please no offer sheet, please no offer sheet.
….oh brother this is getting ugly. There's no worse way to get the fans against you than by holding out for a better contract. Just ask Dubi.
…the Rangers wanting to give their young RFA center a two-year deal instead of a long term contract is standard operating procedure for Sather and Stepan should fall in line like the rest of the Rangers did. He's still young and a big contract will be waiting for him next season when the Rangers will likely extend him.
