In an interview with Viv Bernstein at the New York Times, Carolina's Eric Staal gives us this update on brother Marc's eye injury…
“He’s doing O.K. It’s just about the swelling and taking time for everything to kind of settle down. Obviously, everybody saw the shot, how hard it was, but he’s continuing to meet with the doctors daily, and they’re giving him positive vibes and signs, so that’s a good thing. But he’s still a ways out with the healing process and everything that goes with it.”
…wow, 12 days since Staal took a puck to the eye and the swelling has yet to go down? That can't be good. Would love to know what Eric's interpretation of "a ways out" is.
…absolutely baffling that the Rangers are releasing no information on Staal. I know Torts likes to protect his players, but it isn't like no one knows he was struck in the eye.
