#NYR GM Glen Sather on growing pains : "I expected some but I didn't think it would be this bad." Saw some improvement after 1st period
— Steve Zipay (@stevezipay) October 11, 2013
…wait, Sather didn't expect that changing his Eastern Conference Finalist roster full of blue collar, hard working, lunch pale players who fans loved into the 2011-12 Columbus Blue Jackets who went 29-46-7 would be this bad? If Dolan actually realized he owned a hockey team, that would be grounds for immediate dismissal.
…no person's reputation is more on the line this season than Sather's. He turned over a winning roster. He fired a Stanley Cup winning coach. He hasn't sniffed the Stanley Cup in his 13 years as GM with the Rangers. You want a face to put on this mess, just check out the guy in the press box with the silver hair chomping on a cigar.
…and that idea terrifies me as Sather could be forced into making panic moves just to save his own hide.
I think this hat pretty much describes the transformation over the last 16 months (via reader Allyson G.)…
Meanwhile, in an effort to give his star netminder a game off to lick his wounds, Alain Vigneault has announced Marty Biron will get the start in St. Louis tomorrow night.
…hey, why not. Maybe having the back up in there will force the rest of the team to play some, you know, actual defense.
