Sabres 6, Rangers 5 (Traverse City Game 2)

The New York Rangers prospects (0-2) lost to the Buffalo Sabres prospects (2-0) by the score of 6-5 in overtime in the second game of the Traverse City Tournament, yesterday. For a box score, click here.

Oscar Linberg had a hat trick (two on the power play) to go along with an assist, while his linemate Danny Kristo chipped in with a goal and two assists.

Jesper Fast was held pointless and without a shot.

Josh Graves had the Rangers final tally.

Jeff Malcolm made 33 saves on 39 shots.

Here's video of Lindberg's hat trick…

…geez all four of the goals between Lindberg and Kristo were one timers. Talk about instant chemistry. Speaking of chemistry, Kristo addresses that subject post game…

…while I'm loving Lindberg's four goals in two games to start the tournament (small ice surface doesn't seem to be a problem), we do have to remember he's playing against kids getting their first taste of pro competition after going up against grown men in the Swedish pro league the last three years. Still, if I'm Richards, I'd be a little worried right about now.

…definitely a disappointing game for Fast, Yogan and St. Croix. The three combined for zero points, a -3 and just six shots on goal.

…10 goals against in the first two games?!?!?!?! Man, this ain't no Torts defense.

…from the game reports, it sounded like Malcolm had a solid game between the pipes. Which is a good sign considering the dearth of goaltending prospects in the system.

…officially developing a man crush for Leroux, who got into his second fight in two games…

…best part about the fight is that Leroux was defending one of his teammates. Hopefully AV will show the big club this video before the season.

…the Rangers prospects now have the same amount of power play goals in the first two games of the tournament (four) as the Rangers had in 12 playoff games last year.
