According to the Toronto Sun (H/T Hockey This Week), the Rangers will hold five days of their training camp in Banff, Alberta from September 18-22 before starting the west coast portion of their exhibition schedule.
After playing exhibition games in New Jersey and Philadelphia on Sept. 16-17, respectively, they will head west for the five day camp. They will then take on the Flames in Calgary on Sept. 23, travel to Edmonton on Sept. 24, Vancouver on Sept. 26 and meet the L.A. Kings in Las Vegas on Sept. 27.
Glen Sather said he plans on taking 40 players on the trip because of the amount of exhibition games the Rangers are playing in such a short period of time.
…a long, chaotic training camp with lots of travel? Hmmm, what does that remind me of? Oh yeah, the team bonding 2011 European trip which Rangers fans point to as the main reason for team's success and ultimate run to the Eastern Conference Finals that season. Officially count me in as fully on board with this Western Canadian excursion.
…if the Rangers can replicate the success of 2011-12 or even take it a step further, I'm pretty sure every fan will be begging for an extended road trip to begin every season.
