Larry Brooks at the New York Post reports that Glen Sather has had conversations with ex-Ranger Vinny Prospal, who is training in the Czech Republic.
Brooks added that there's no indication the Rangers GM is prepared to offer Prospal a contract, but has not shut the door on that possibility.
Prospal had 30 points (12g, 18a) in 48 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets last season.
…and the Rangers transformation into the 2011-12 Columbus Blue Jackets (29-46-7, 65 pts) is almost complete.
…listen, I love Prospal's goal celebrations as much as the next guy, and God knows the Rangers could use a few more of those right now, but someone try to explain to me how a 38-year, without training camp is supposed to get into game shape and learn AV's system quickly enough to actually help this team before the injured Rangers return?
…plus bringing in an over the hill Prospal reeks of an early 2000s desperation Sather move. Instead of panicking, I'd much rather they add someone who actually, you know, deserves it. Like maybe Danny Kristo.
…although, Prospal is one of those heart and soul guys the Rangers are very much lacking right now and would come cheap. Plus, he'd likely take the spot of the underperforming Pyatt, Pouliot or Zuccarello. You know what, I think I just talked myself into wanting Prospal.
Last Friday, I actually asked you guys about signing Prospal on Twitter. Here were some answers…
