Rangers Re-Sign Mashinter

According to Cap Geek, the Rangers have re-signed Brandon Mashinter to a one-year, $605,000 contract.

It is a two way deal that would pay him $75,000 in the AHL.

Mashinter had 10g, 9a in 35 games with the CT Whale after being obtained mid season from the Worshester Sharks last season.

He was scoreless in four games with the Rangers.

…if you're a reader of this blog you know I have a serious man crush on Mashinter, so I'm ecstatic to have him back. Big, tough forward, who stands up for teammates and can score the occasional goal? There will always be a place for a guy like that on my team.

…having said that, he played very timid when recalled last season and has me questioning whether he he can succeed in the NHL. I'd like to hope it was nothing more than jitters and he makes a big push to crack the opening night roster in camp.

…after Dorsett, the Rangers are void of any toughness and Mashinter could be the perfect 13th forward who AV could plug into the line-up against teams such as the Flyers and Bruins. Especially if the Rangers end up demoting Asham to the AHL.
