Rangers Meeting With Redden to Discuss Future

Redden's $6.5 million per year salary will count against the Rangers cap this year and next year even if he's playing with the Whale.

The Rangers are said to be interested in using an amnesty buyout on Redden this summer. They can not use the amnesty for this season.

…i can't believe I'm saying this, but if Redden is going to count against the Rangers cap anyway, why not give him a chance to win a roster spot in camp. You're telling me he's going to be worse than Bickel or Eminger as a 6th or 7th defenseman?
