According to Pat Leonard at the Daily News, the Rangers spent a long, long time with their locker room door closed after last night's blowout loss to the Sharks.
Leonard added that Glen Sather was present for the meeting.
…while I love the idea of a closed door meeting after an embarrassing display of hockey, I wish they didn't need to do it just THREE games into the season. While I have no idea how Cally is in the locker room, I can only hope he was getting in the face of a couple of his teammates.
…my only hope is that the 9-2 shellacking was a wake-up call for this team and they use it as motivation going forward.
…and I tell you what, if the guys on the current roster continue with this lackluster performance, there's plenty of young hungry talent in the AHL who would be more than willing to do the job.
And the players may have lucked out today as NHL rules dictate that the team have a mandatory day off because of their recent schedule of three games in four nights.
Vigneault indicated that if he had a choice, he would throw his team right back on the practice ice.
Here's AV post game last night…
