Rangers Had Two Scouts at TOR-BUF This Weekend

According to The Fourth Period, the New York Rangers are still searching for depth up front at the forward position after not signing Jason Arnott, who failed a physical last month after agreeing to a one-year deal. The site reports that New York had scouts out observing this weekend.

Two of the Rangers' pro scouts attended Saturday's game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Buffalo Sabres, and both clubs are believed to be active on the trade front.

There was a Rangers scout at the Panthers-Sabres game on Sunday.

…First the Sharks had their scout attend two straight games as Kevin informed us yesterday, now the Rangers have their scouts attending two Sabres games. However, this means nothing of a trade being imminent. It's just scouts doing their jobs so proceed with caution.

…Looking at the Sabres roster, the only players I could see fitting in New York are Jochen Hecht or Patrick Kaleta. However, both signed new deals in the offseason so I'm not sure if they're even available. Hecht would provide some faceoff help and Kaleta is one of those gritty forwards you hate to play against.

…Maybe Sather wants to trade Stu Bickel for John Scott.
