Rangers 3, Islanders 2

The New York Rangers (4-7-0) defeated the New York Islanders (4-5-3) by the score of 3-2, tonight. For a box score, go to Yahoo! Sports.

…damn, that was fun to watch. Can't remember the last time I watched a regular season Rangers game that exciting. If this is a sneak preview of what this team is capable of offensively under AV, we are in for a treat. The key now will be consistency.

…Kreider was an absolute beast tonight. To me, the problem with Kreider in the past has been he's put too much pressure on himself to score. Now he's just going out, playing hard and letting the game come to him. Great job by AV getting him in front on the power play, where he was an absolute force.

…i've never seen Hagelin as more than a third line player with speed, but he displayed top six talent tonight. He was all over the ice and contributed in every aspect of the game. And I absolutely loved when he pulled an Avery in the third period when he kicked Nabakov's glove icing the puck after whistle. Tons of energy.

…Zuccarello is easily the toughest little guy in the league. Doesn't back down from anyone. He's got a little skill as well.

…this Cam Talbot guy is a pretty cool customer. Not phased at all by a very pressurized environment tonight. Could easily see him getting 25-30 starts this season.

…Boyle has had a very under-rated season so far.

…one of the immediate dividends of Hagelin being re-inserted into the line-up was Pyatt properly being bumped to the fourth line, where I felt he had a pretty effective game.

…welcome to the season Derek Stepan! Maybe he is a #1 center. Still needs to start finishing though.

…speaking of finishing, it's about time Pouliot did after passing on a wide open net and flubbing a layup tonight.

…Dom Moore injury = Mashinter Time!!!!

…McDonagh power play goal pretty much guarantees Del Zotto doesn't sniff first unit extra man minutes for the rest of the year.

…ready to start a petition to get Girardi to take off the visor. Hasn't been the same player since donning it this season.

…wow, did Clutterbuck say something about Olivia Munn to Richards? Man, he was pissed at the end of the game. Big time props for standing up for a teammate.

…i know it was a bad hop, but you have to wonder if Staal gets a stick on that bouncing puck if he has two good eyes. After his -2 tonight, he's now a -11 in the last nine games.

…off tomorrow then home vs. the Sabres.
