Rangers 2, Predators 0

Talbot, Rangers shut out Predators 2-0

The New York Rangers (12-11-0) defeated the Nashville Predators (11-10-2) by the score of 2-0, tonight. For a box score, go to Yahoo! Sports.

…easily one of the best all around efforts of the season for the Rangers. You know, minus the fact that they're still struggling to find the back of the net. But hey, when you play defense like that, all you need is a few opportunistic goals and you're all good.

…not much action for Talbot, but when you haven't given up a goal in two games, you must be doing something right. I've said it a couple of times this season, but Talbot needs and deserves to get 25-30 starts this season.

…amazing how much tighter the defense is with Talbot in goal than Lundqvist. The King must be wondering if his teammates like him at this point.

…the one aspect of McDonagh's game we all felt might hold him back from being a legit Norris Trophy candidate was his offense. Welp, I think he better start making room on his mantle for multiple pieces of hardware.

…not only nice to see Stepan help the Rangers win the game, but also help his own chances of making the US Olympic team by scoring in front of Nashville GM David Poile, who is also serving as Team USA GM.

…hey Zucc, don't listen to anyone telling you to shoot, just keep feeding the rock.

…bravo Mr. Dorsett, bravo. The game was evenly played until he decided to stick up for the fallen Boyle. I never want to hear that teammates sticking up for one another doesn't give a team a lift because that's exactly what Dorsett did tonight. The Rangers still need a real enforcer, but that's another conversation for a different day

…not sure I've enjoyed watching a Rangers fourth line this much since the last time D. Moore was with the team.

…in the last eight days the Rangers have played two 1-0 games, a 2-0 game, a 2-1 game and a 3-2 game. Weren't these low scoring, one goal games supposed to go away when the Rangers hired AV? The life expectancy of a Rangers fans must be so much lower than the average human being.

…after Del Zotto's two absolutely egregious giveaways on the Rangers first power play, I thought he settled down and had a solid game. Hey, if I'm going to kill him when he's bad, I've got to give him credit when he's good.

…things went so well for the Rangers tonight, Pouliot even had a couple of nice offensive plays. Of course he didn't finish, but beggers can't be choosers.

…btw, was it me or did AV look like an evil henchman with that all black ensemble tonight?

…off tomorrow then in Tampa Monday night.
