Rangers 2, Panthers 1, SO

NHL: New York Rangers at Florida Panthers

The New York Rangers (20-19-2) defeated the Florida Panthers (15-20-6) by the score of 2-1 in a shootout, last night. For a box score, go to Yahoo! Sports.

…a mediocre effort masked by the heroics of their goaltender? It's good to have our Rangers back.

…welcome to the 2013-14 season Henrik Lundqvist!!!!

…Girardi went from unmovable in the second period to hot commodity in the third.

…Richards continues to outplay Nash. (Buyout Watch)

…McDonagh had more offensive chances in OT than the last few weeks.

…23 minutes of ice time for Staal? Nice to see AV ease him back into the lineup.

…another unnoticeable game for Allen. Which is a good thing. Del Zotto might want to get comfortable in that press box or start looking at homes in Ottawa.

…so who had Brassard, Zuccarello, Pouliot, Richards and McDonagh as the Rangers top power play unit going into the season? And even more amazing is that Pouliot is the difference maker.

…why does AV refuse to use Kreider in overtime?

…since I decided to lower my expectations of the Rangers after the Islanders loss, they've gone 4-1-0 and actually played some pretty good hockey. Funny how that happens. Was this a sloppy victory against a bad team? Sure, but are Rangers fans really in position to complain about wins these days? I don't think so.

…off until Friday when the Rangers take on the mightly under-manned Penguins.

…Happy New Year's everyone!!!!
