Breathe…. being a Ranger fan should come with free ventilators.
Brassard continues to be the Rangers best player on the ice not named Henrik Lundqvist. Not only is he living up to his high draft status, but is also making Sather and his infamous trades look pretty good as well. 2-5-7 this series.
On the flip side of the coin, Nash (1 shot) continues to struggle. His wrist has to be hurting as he continues to favor his backhand when the puck manages to find his stick. Can't think of another valid reason for his absence from the scoresheet.
Richards' game also continues to fall off the proverbial cliff…. 9:34 TOI and nearly half was spent on the power play. Amazing how the Rangers' deficiencies go hand in hand.
The Rangers dominated puck possession in the first 40 minutes before falling back and playing defense in the third. Winning faceoffs consistently in all 3 zones might have had something to do with it.
I wish Boyle would play every game like it was the playoffs, the guy saves his best stuff for the postseason…
Good work by the Rangers to stay within themselves and not afford the Caps a power play opportunity. Its been a killer all series long.
Stralman, after an atrocious Game 1 has been excellent since. Perhaps getting away from his pairing with Del Zotto has been the catalyst in his game. Speaking of DZ, only 1 point this series and hasn't scored since the middle of March with only a handful of assists to go along with it. Had higher hopes for the guy in the series because he was so good against Washington last postseason, but now his top 4 job has been taken by a trade deadline acquistion… not taking anything away from John Moore withstanding.
With Game 7 tomorrow, the Rangers need their best players to finally step up (specifically their captain) and push the Rangers into the second round. Relying on secondary scoring and Lundqvist's stellar play in net can only take them so far in the postseason before they run out of gas.
