#NYR practice the PP today with Del Zotto & Richards at points, Nash, Callahan, Gaborik at forward "that's an impressive group"-Cally

With Richards on the point, Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record reports that Callahan was taking the faceoffs.
Here's Tortorella on the power play…
“We’re trying to lay down a foundation on our breakout and entries, and then we need to try to allow them to play. We have our most creative people on ice in those situations, sometimes you need to get away and let them create. A lot of coaches don’t want to practice it. Especially in this situation, we have Nash as a new guy but it’s only to nail down a foundation.”
…finally!!!!! On paper that power play unit is sick. A little concerned about Cally taking faceoffs against opponents top pk specialists.
And because Richards (flu) was practicing on the power play, he obviously returned to the ice with his teammates for the first time in camp.
Here's Richards on his return…
“I feel good, it’s good to get back out there,” Richards said. “Had a good skate yesterday, right back into the pace of my first Torts’ practice. Obviously, I needed that for the body and I feel I’m right back and ready to go. I love practicing like that, it’s game like and you get your tempo up. I can’t wait (for Saturday’s opener at Boston). We’ve been kind of waiting for this since September, wondering ifs, and when is it going to end and how long is it going to take and you keep playing that scenario over and over in your head.”
…let's hope Richards didn't fall too far behind with his conditioning.
Finally, the recently recalled Brandon Segal made a nice impression on John Tortorella today…
“The thing that caught my eye is that he’s really good along the wall. I thought he stepped in and fought a guy where there was no hesitation. he’s been a good player for them. Ash is out because of his suspension and this guy deserves a chance. We’re hoping it’s not just one and done and he’s part of our depth.”
Torts adds he'd rather keep Stu Bickel on defense rather than at forward.
…right there with you Torts. Much rather Bickel on the blueline. Hoping that Segal seizes the moment and forces Torts to sit either Asham or Rupp. The Rangers will be a much better team under that scenario.
