With Ryan Callahan and Chris Kreider still not practicing due to injury, Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record reports these lines from today's practice…
Rick Nash-Brad Richards-Marian Gaborik
Carl Hagelin-Derek Stepan-Taylor Pyatt
Mike Rupp-Brian Boyle-Benn Ferriero
Stu Bickel-Jeff Halpern-Arron Asham
Jim Cerny of nyrangers.com adds that John Tortorella acknowledged Matt Gilroy's versatility after practice.
…really no other line-up Torts can go with at this point unless there's a transaction or someone is called up. Not really sure it matters if it's Bickel or Gilroy as the 12th forward because Torts is only going to give them two minutes anyway.
Gross also notes that Kreider skated lightly during practice today and had this quote from the Rangers rookie…
“Obviously it was an injury but everyone’s playing through something. I felt it all along. There were days where it was worse, days where it was better. I would have liked it to be a bone bruise like the original diagnosis. If this was a bone bruise, it gets better pretty quickly and you can play through it.
“It didn’t seem like it was getting better and bone bruises get better,” Kreider said. “I was able to go really light this morning, just stride it out and get my feet and skates. It kind of makes you stir crazy, you want to get back on the ice. You want to be with the group.”
…from the sound of Kreider I'd be shocked if we see him before next week.
Finally Gross says the feeling around the Rangers locker room today was that Callahan was feeling better than he was last night.
…i like the sound of that.
