I little light on Rangers news the last few days, so I really don't got much for you. To get the "open thread" started I'll update you on where a couple of former Rangers have landed this offseason:
- Matt Gilroy signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Florida Panthers. He'll get paid $700K if he makes the Panthers.
…once again Gilroy not given much of a chance with the Rangers. Not that he really deserved it, but I thought he played pretty well in limited action for the Rangers. With the signings of Johnson and Falk it was obvious the Rangers were moving in a different direction.
- Benn Ferriero signed a one-year, two way contract with the Vancouver Canucks.
The Rangers had traded Ferriero to the Wild for Falk and a 6th round pick this offseason but Minnesota didn't qualify him so he became a free agent.
…nice little reunion with Torts who was actually impressed with Ferriero in his short stint with the Rangers last season.
- Finally, Rangers 2006 first round pick & bust Bobby Sanguinetti has signed a two-year contract with KHL team Atlant Moscow.
…and you thought Kovalchuk was the only big name player leaving the NHL for Russia.
And if this post didn't bore you enough he's an interview with Chris Kreider about virtually nothing…
Since this post wasn't likely a discussion starter, you guys can talk about whatever you like. Including your weekend plans or how big of a contract extension you think Lundqvist will get. Ryan Lambert at Puck Daddy thinks it'll be big.
