Staal Not Taken to Hospital After Puck to Eye Area

According to Rick Carpiniello at The Rangers Report, Marc Staal was not taken to a hospital after taking a puck to the eye in the third period last night.

Didn't really want to post this pic of Staal, but I figured it gives us a good idea of exactly where it hit him (H/T to Puck Daddy)…

Here's a GIF…

…that's as scary as it gets folks.

…i'm old, so my eyes are going, but from the GIF, which to me is the best look, it seems as though the puck got him on the eyebrow, which would be best case scenario. But as reader cb1 pointed out in the comments section of the game recap last night, even if the puck hit him above the eye, there can still be swelling and pressure put on the optic nerve which can lead to vision loss.

..based on Staal's reaction and where it likely hit, I'm thinking possible broken orbital bone. Either way, let's just hope for the best.

…mandatory face shields anyone?
