Less than a week after signing with the Rangers, Josh Nicholls is proving that Glen Sather and Gordie Clark made the right decision as he scored two shorthanded goals and added an assist in the Saskatoon Blades 6-3 victory over Medicine Hat last night.
Jess Rubenstein at The Prospect Park describes the two goals…
"Nicholls would make it 2-0 with a shorthanded goal at 18:51 off a breakaway and the Blades would take that lead into the intermission….Nicholls would get his 2nd goal of the night when he stole the puck from two Tiger defensemen and scored his 2nd shorthanded goal of the night to make it 5-1 at 5:08."
Rubenstein adds that the two shorthanded goals were Nicholl's 5th and 6th of the season as he took over the WHL lead in that category.
The 6' 3" Nicholls now has 44g, 34a on the season.
…scoring touch and a shorthanded specialist? Torts is going to love that.
…seriously, is there a better evaluator of talent than Gordie Clark?
