New Lines; Lundqvist To Start 8th Straight

Alain Vigneault continues to tinker with his lineup in an effort to create some offensive cohesion as he'll go with this group of 12 forwards tonight against the Islanders…

Nash-Stepan-Zuccarello
Kreider-Brassard-Hagelin
Richard-Miller-Pouliot
Boyle-D. Moore-Dorsett

…i like a lot of what AV is trying to do here. Makes sense to get a playmaker like Zuccarello on Nash's opposite wing in an attempt to jump start the big guy.

…i'm also a fan of seeing the young Miller alongside a veteran like Richards. Hoping that they both rub off on each other.

AV discussed the changes after this morning's practice (via Blueshirts United)…

"J.T. has been playing real well at both ends of the rink (in Hartford) and they've been using him at center, so we thought it might be a good time to give him a look. I'm hoping that (Richards) and J.T. might have a little bit of chemistry there. I'm hoping that the veteran will rub off on the younger player..and it'll be the start of something real positive."

He added this on Nash…

"I think (Nash) is real close. Obviously he wants to produce more than he has, but he's getting some good looks. There's no doubt in my mind that his will is there. It's a matter of just staying with it."

Henrik Lundqvist will make his eighth straight start.

…not sure I agree with this decision. Islanders have been struggling and Talbot has proved to be a very capable backup. Can't overwork Hank in December, because it will ultimately wear him down in March and April. Especially during an Olympic year.
