Nash, Moore Practice; Callahan, Stralman Take Maintenance Days

Today, Rick Nash returned to practice for the first time since suffering a concussion last month. However he has yet to be cleared for contact.

Here's Nash after practice (via Bergen Record)…

"I felt pretty good actually, better than I thought I would feel. I kept up but there’s still some work that needs to be done."

Nash will likely travel with the Rangers to Montreal this weekend, but isn't expected to play.

During practice, Nash rotated on a few lines, including the top line with Derek Stepan and Chris Kreider.

…with the way Nash is progressing, we might see him as early as next week! Which is amazing considering we were talking about him possibly missing the entire season as recently as last week.

In other injury news, Dominic Moore (oblique) practiced for the second straight day and is expected to be back in the lineup Saturday night in Montreal.

Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record notes that the Rangers will discuss a roster move on Friday once it's 100 % sure Moore will suit up in Montreal.

…i hate to say it, but I'm preparing myself for the move to be Mashinter heading back to Hartford.

Both Ryan Callahan and Anton Stralman received maintenance days today, but Alain Vigneault did emphasize that both players are fine and will be back at the Rangers next practice on Friday.

Callahan said the day off had nothing to do with his recently healed broken thumb and was just "body maintenance."

…if there's one player I never want to hear is being given a maintenance day is Callahan. It usually means some kind of injury.

As far as the goaltending rotation with back-to-back games this weekend (@ Montreal & vs. Kings), Vigneault admitted he has been briefed on the Rangers struggles in Montreal, but will not announce his plan until he speaks with Lundqvist and Talbot.

…expect Talbot in Montreal.
