McIlrath Out; Asham In; Pyatt on the Block?

…again, I get the idea of protecting a young player from a team like the Penguins, however, reports out of Pittsburgh are that they've been decimated by injury and suspension including Malkin, Neal and Letang. So they've been winning with a hard working style that has included some dirty play, which makes it even more baffling that AV would want to sit out McIlrath.

…i do feel better knowing there is still some toughness in the lineup with Dorsett, Asham and Falk, but none of them provide the physical presence that McIlrath does.

…i've been completely disappointed with Asham since his recall as he's been an absolute no show. Rangers are going to need him to provide a spark tonight to get into this game early.

Meanwhile, Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record reports that Glen Sather was seen talking with Taylor Pyatt at his locker after practice. The NHL roster freeze starts at 11:59PM tomorrow night and ends at 12:01PM on December 28th.

Here's Alain Vigneault on Pyatt…

"Right now he's on the outside. After training camp he was given a lot of opportunities…and never really got his game going after training camp. Right now he's on the outside looking in, and I'm not quite sure where all that's going to go."

…unless there's another injury, you have to assume Pyatt's days in a Blueshirt are numbered especially with Poopsalot picking up his game of late. With Sather having a conversation with Pyatt, it seems like the Rangers might be intent on removing him from the roster before the freeze tomorrow night.

…i guess not even Pyatt's mesmerizing eyes were enough to distract the organization from his struggles this season.
