While he still refused to disclose the nature of his injury that kept him out of last night's game in Philadelphia. After taking shots from Rangers goaltending coach Benoit Allaire yesterday, Henrik Lundqvist did admit the injury occurred during the second game of the season against the Kings in Los Angeles.
Here's Lundqvist on the progress of the injury (via New York Post)…
“I would be out there [if this were April],” the goaltender said before the Flyers’ 2-1 victory over the Rangers. “There are ways to hide it and help out with the pain. It’s something I could play through.
“But the season is long and you have to be smart about it. I want to make sure this [treatment] pays off.”
Lundqvist said the four game break in between games was the perfect opportunity to clear this issue up.
He's not sure if he'll be available to play tomorrow night in Detroit.
…so, does that mean it's not the contract or the smaller pads? Wonder when the rest of the team is going to start faking injuries to excuse their poor play as well.
…in all seriousness, this obviously explains a lot and Rangers fans should be excited to see the real Lundqvist going forward.
…although, Lundqvist better get back soon before Talbot continues his strong play and makes the "King" expendable.
