In an article at the New York Times regarding Henrik Lundqvist's thoughts on Russia's newly adopted anti-gay laws implemented ahead of the 2014 Winter Olympics (he disagrees with them), the Rangers super star goaltender also discussed his extension talks with the Rangers calling them "volatile" and that “there’s no pressure to get it done this summer.”
…yikes! Since Lundqvist's infamous break-up day extension non-committal, I've always been a tad concerned about the possibility of Lundqvist looking else where for employment next summer. But now that he's calling talks "volatile" I'm absolutely frightened.
…on the positive side, there's still plenty of time for the talks to become cordial, especially if the Rangers begin the season hot, so it's absolutely not a foregone conclusion that Lundqvist will be wearing another jersey next season. Still, these quotes are not sitting well with me.
