Chris Kreider was welcomed back to the Rangers with a spot on the top line with Derek Stepan and Brad Richards during practice today.
Kreider says the difference between this season and last is that he's healthy. He also noted that he simplified his game in Hartford playing with Oscar Lindberg and Danny Kristo.
Here's Vigneault on how he'll use Kreider (via Rangers)…
"Right now with the players we have out, that (top 6) is what we need from Kreider. He played well in Hartford, hopefully do same for us."
…unlike under Torts, no one can complain Kreider isn't going to get a chance. It's 100% on him to take advantage. And with the state of the Rangers offense, I pray to God he does.
Here are the lines…
…why is Fast rotating on the fourth line? He has no business being anywhere near that line. If he's not going to get top 9 minutes, he needs to be in Hartford.
…and I'm not just saying this because of my man crush, but Mashinter has to be the third guy on that fourth line. If he's not going to be in the line-up for the Flyers game, why bother calling him up?
Also at practice, Henrik Lundqvist was given a maintenance day, while Carl Hagelin practiced in full.
…with the way Lundqvist has been playing, he might need two maintenance days.
Finally, the Rangers reported that the was nothing new on Rick Nash as he continues to sit out of practice with concussion issues.
…this is not good. Can you say the second coming of Lindros?
