Wow, apparently ending a three game winning streak by losing to one of the best teams in the NHL by a single goal means the Rangers would now be willing to trade one of their best young players for an enigmatic Russian. Makes sense.
Piggybacking on the possible Rangers/Oilers trade talk, Jim Matheson at the Edmonton Journal says the only way the Blueshirts would deal Chris Kreider to Edmonton is if 2012 first overall pick Nail Yakupov headed to New York in return.
Matheson also adds that the Oilers have long liked Michael Del Zotto.
Yakupov, who has a year remaining on his $925,000 entry level deal, has been rumored to want to go back to Russia to play in the KHL. He had 31 points (17g, 14a) last season, but just three points (1g, 2a) in 14 games this year.
…if the Oilers are so interested in Del Zotto, why don't they trade Yakupov for him? I'm down with that trade.
…as far as the Rangers trading Kreider goes…
…the kid finally flashes some of the brilliance we've all been waiting to see and I'm expected to believe the Rangers would now be willing to trade him? C'mon man.
…yes, Yakupov is an immense talent, but let me ask you this, if he's so good, why would the 4-10-2 Oilers be looking to trade him and his very minimal salary after just 62 NHL games? Oh yeah, could it be that he's already stopped playing hard because he doesn't like the situation he's in. Sounds like the perfect addition to the Rangers.
