It Took Miller Awhile to Adjust to the AHL

Ryan Kennedy at The Hockey News talks with Rangers 2011 first round pick JT Miller on the adjustments he's had to make going from juniors to the AHL…

“It took me awhile to adjust there, plus I went from wing to center, but it was one of the best leagues in the world to play in when the lockout was on. It’s really good competition, I love it.”

Kennedy feels that with the lockout over and many of the top AHLers back in the NHL, Miller will be one of the better prospects in the AHL to watch for the rest of the season.

…i say it all the time on the blog, but I just love how this kid is the perfect fit for Tortorella's forechecking, grind it out system. While he won't wow you with his skill set, he's a tough guy to play against as he'll fight you for every inch of the ice both offensively and defensively. If the Rangers continue with their lackluster ways this season, I wouldn't be shocked to see Miller get a callup sooner rather than later.

Miller has 16 points (7g, 9a) in 32 games this season, but half of them (5g, 3a) have been in the last 12 games.

Here's Miller on winning the gold medal at the World Junior Championships a few weeks ago as a member of Team USA…
