Gretzky Says Very Unlikely He’s Next Rangers Head Coach

This weekend Wayne Gretzky told Darren Dreger of TSN that he shouldn't be on the candidates list for the Rangers head coaching position and that it's "very unlikely" he will be the next head coach.

…well there you have it folks. Scratch another candidate off the list.

…while it was fun to think about a coaching tandum of Gretzky and Messier, not having either of them behind the bench is likely the best thing for the franchise going forward.

…I feel that Gretzky tainted his legacy a bit because of his coaching debacle in Phoenix so I'd hate to see any further damage in New York. Isn't it bad enough that in Gretzky's final season in the NHL he was playing on a line with Todd Harvey?
